I think that this story is a fairytale or nightmare

Seriously? what the fuck? Honestly, how did this guy become a politician, much less the president? Hasn't he heard of keeping his mouth shut?

Only in America? :/ 62.16.243.119 21:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
w:The_O'Reilley_Factor and the No Spin Zone. Smart people. Why does all news media other than fox tend to be liberally biased? Wikinews actually has to make a conscious effort just to be NPOV. It shouldn't be that difficult. —69.114.159.217 02:03, 21 October 2007 (UTC) (w:User:Thinboy00)[reply]

Both bad, but...[edit]

I know Bush is a very bad president, but Putin is going to be in power for a generation (Russia is s Pseudo-democracy). This message by him doesn't mean anything factually. This doesn't mean that they have a way to defeat the shield. All he is doing is lying to reassure the public. I can't believe people take him for his word, the guy was trained how to lie... 19:12, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

i read somewhere politicians and actors were proffessional liars...

Unless you have inside information, you can't accurately say whether it's the truth or not. If you were the one who had to make the decision, and you had no other evidence to back it up on, you would have to "take him for his word", whether or not he's been trained to lie. Even if you hope for the best-case, you must be prepared for the worst-case, otherwise you'll be in trouble if it happens. --86.137.247.172 21:01, 20 October 2007 (UTC).[reply]

No, what I am saying is that he lies. If you look at translations of the media in Russia, that is used to skyrocket his approval ratings and spew hatred about the USA, you can see how they say things that are just plain not true. What he is doing with the announcement is making his people think he is a hero. He OUT RITE lies about Siberia, he lies about it ALL OF THE TIME. Contralya 01:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That the West in general, and the US in particular, are after the natural resources of Siberia, is a popular scaremongering story here in Russia from long before Putin's times. China is another usual suspect. This is the revival of the old fears from the Cold War, indeed (not that they were ever dead, just dormant). Sad... 85.140.220.217 07:29, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But no-one in the US has talked about it! Therefore he is lying. I bet you have been listening to Russia's state controlled media. Contralya 16:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There have been people discussed the strategic value of the Siberian reserves within the U.S. The concern is it may give Russia a strategic advantage.
Oh and the spelling is "outright". --Brian McNeil / talk 17:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not like Putin says, he acts like the administration wants to take Siberia for itself. And I was emphasizing, I know better English than W. Contralya 18:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do people really think that way? --69.114.159.217 01:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC) (w:User:Thinboy00)[reply]

Unfourtantly yes. Its amazing what results voting can produce... (Or at least the voting in democracies) Bawolff 01:58, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Modern Russia is only slightly closer to democracy than, say, Iran. Elections do not make a democracy. The USSR had elections, too, and so does North Korea. 85.140.220.217 07:33, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Russia is NOT a democracy. Contralya 16:40, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Iran has elections with Wikipedia:Universal Suffrage, which are no more rigged or corrupt than the USA. The position of Supreme leader, which seems to cause the most problems, is in practice not much different to the 'election' of the Wikipedia:Chairman of the Federal Reserve, a position with perhaps greater power than the Supreme Leader and has certainly done a comparable amount of damage to the welfare of the average populace (Yes, even Fox New viewers). Similarly, the Council of Guardians is indistinguishable in practice from the position held by the US media in selecting candidates. Perhaps you are confusing with another country with a similar sounding name? --71.212.153.112 17:11, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You sound gullible. Just because they say they have free elections doesn't mean they do. Russia has no free elections, it only lets one party do anything. For instance, it re-scheduled an opposition party's meeting, meanwhile they brought down the opposition's website. Another thing is that they don't have free media. Anyone who criticizes Putin's authoritarianism will be fired, or killed by a hitman. They have a crackdown on human rights, free speech and free elections. Contralya 18:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Iranian elections are not truly democratic, because the candidate lists are prefiltered. We've seen how that works in practice during the last elections (when Ahmadinejad got elected). I am not in a position to compare it to the U.S. elections, as I'm not an American. But it sounds very much like what the USSR had, when the candidate lists where composed by the Party, and of the Party membes. As for Russia, I have first-hand experience here. While we do not have it as officially authoritarian as Iran, it's certainly heading that way. For now, there's general intimidation of opposition, and monopolization of mass media for propaganda purposes by the pro-president party. Well, and the occasional assassination - Litvinenko, Politkovskaya... Definitely not North Korea here yet - I can rant here just fine, after all, and I'm not going to be "fired or assassinated". But I'm not a publicly visible figure, either, so why would they care? 195.214.233.225 06:11, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

beginning of the end.[edit]

as propheseid in bible and islamic tradition a great war before the qayamat would take place. it is going to start. peace be upon jesus and muhammad/.

Pipe down. This doesn't mean there is going to be another world war. This title is fooling a lot of people. 16:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

you should go through new on google.

Calm down people[edit]

It's not as bad as in the title. Putin hasn't mentioned WWIII. Most of the stuff that the article says about Putin has been going on for a decade, and are not recent developments or responses to Bush's statement. This title is just a cheap piece of hype used fool people into thinking there is a new cold war so they will use the news more often. I thought wikinews was more honest than this! Contralya 16:44, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. The apocalypse is coming. The world will burn. Run. -Spacehusky 18:06, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. That is what the media wants you to think so you will watch more of it. Contralya 18:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True, the media is probably riling us up so we'll watch more, but... This is nothing to kid about Mutton333 22:11, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The stuff that Putin said was for internal consumption anyway, propaganda targeting the voters (bear in mind that we've got a parliamentary election here by the end of this year, and presidential election early next year). So long as sabre-rattling remains popular, it will keep going. Nothing serious is going to come out of this, though - Putin is not a complete idiot to challenge the West for real. 195.214.233.225 06:16, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dont invade russia[edit]

If the states invade russia, then the remainder of russia will respond with thousands of nuclear missiles.

we should take allies to Israel for safety then take some to Iran for safety there so they can get information on the bomb launch and invading Israel for safety. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.98.96.186 (talk) 16:39, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bush is mad[edit]

I think that George Bush is more dangerous to the world then Osama Bin Laden. If he continues the way he has, he will be remebered for starting the third world War. Bush doesnt seem to understand how much the world population, including a growing majority of Americans, hate him and his policies. —165.138.9.101 17:33, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The World is the Problem[edit]

I think that the problem isn't entirely Bush( but I still strongly dislike him) I think the problem is just a lot of the world-wide politicians around this time that might have gone by. We have North Korea refusing to give up nukes, Iraq/ Middle East/ Osama Bin Laden that are terrorists, and the devolping countries have had some pretty bad leaders (coughBushcough)

What right do any of you have to even think about war?[edit]

Everyday people like me have to face our own independent battles on a daily basis. Finding money to survive, Dealing with abuse and rape and court. Having judges judge without biasness, making decisions without clear thoughts. Watching our aggressors released on the streets, to terrorize us. Pooring what money we do have fighting our own battles we will never win due to unjustice in a system curropted by power curropted by the control of men over women. So in my world where does that leave time to even think of battleing the rest of the world. In my mind does it make me want to strike out against those of higher powers, because if it wasn't for the higher goverment the lower govt. could not get away with what they do. Why not start investing in our own countries and end homelessness, and stop putting people in jail for small crimes and make people own up to the higher crimes, and give peace a chance. Maybe it would stop some of the endless fighting amoungst ourselves. Our citizens invest in you so invest in us. I could talk all day, but I wont for once in my life, my spirit is crushed. I still enjoy life and even if its just a minute out of the day it is worth that much more to live. Find a solution or what point is it for all you people to be in office screaming you have the power to destroy our veryown existence. You terreroize me. If it wasnt for your laws I could fight back amoung my agressors and stop those who hurt me without fear of jail, but I trust your ways, so trust in yourselves or allow us all to start fighting for ourselves becuase our children are getting hurt.

GOD HAS SPOKEN[edit]

Nuclear War can be avoided and this planet could be paradise for all, if however, You all got together and removed the town of Sandefjord from the surface of the planet.

This is the city, Sandefjord. And it is actually the city of the eternal snake: Satan.

Now people of all races , religions, nations and creeds should join hands, in this important moment.

For soon, true believers of all religions, shall unite as one. And March against Sandefjord. This is the verdict of GOD. This is the day of the LORD. This is the final TEST of mankind.

And together you, my blessed and holy ones, you shall with my blessing, wipe the fucker of the face of the planet once and for all. Then, when Sandefjord is no more, you shall all shake hands and live happily ever after, as one brotherhood of mankind.

Brothers and Sisters of the world. In unity, love and with mutual respect for each other.

And every day you could all wake up happy, and safe, knowing you together have rid the world of The Beast, The Dragon, and The Whore of Baylon. A.K.A SANDEFJORD. I call upon you now, to make a holy alliance of christians, muslims and jews against Sandefjord.

And offer it up as a burnt offering to the Lord. Wipe the city of Sandefjord out, for its sins have piled up to Heaven, and you need a new Sodoma Gomorrah to remind mankind what happens when a city falls into every transgression against God, and every transgression that is known to man.

The city of Sandefjord consists allmost utterly of crap-people, egoists, nazis, demons, whalers, and the likes of it. However: And this is very important.,

HEAR ME NOW! FOR I still have a few people there whose names are written in the book of life, so hold of the strike for a little while longer, until I have gathered the ones worthy of continued existence, and brought them out of there.

After that, when I say the word: you have Heavens assurance that nothing will be held against you for the utter destruction of the entire city, and for making sure the city NEVER is rebuildt.

This is it, Grandchildren of Abraham. Stop your quarrels amongst yourselves, for you are all my children. And you are not enemies. Not anymore. Shake hands accross the borders. Kiss and make up, my children.

Kiss and make up, brothers and sisters of Islam, Judaism and Cristendom. Now heed my words, My sons and Daughters, for I call upon thee.

For all my children shall be freed and rise out of Egypt.

Nomatter where you are. So prepare yourselves.

And hear me now o my children of Israel, o my children of Islam and o my children, the children of Christ.

Make peace amongst yourselves. For I love you equally and your wars amongst yourselves, grieves my heart to tears. Do this for me. And for your children. My children. Let them grow up in a world where Evil is no more. Where Love is your King, under God Allmighty.

And let them grow up in world where Sandefjord is no more.

And when I have gathered my little flock of good and decent people out of Sandefjord, I shall sound the call. And then you my Little Ones, shall go Sodoma-Gomorrah on the fucker. And remove the city of Satan, off the face of the earth. Forever. THE CALL TO ARMS AGAINST SANDEFJORD, WHEN IT COMES - WILL BE POSTED AT FACEBOOK DO NOTHING UNTILL I SAY SO.

GOD HAS SPOKEN.

I AM GABRIEL, WHO STANDS BEFORE GOD. GUARDIAN OF PARADISE. KEEPER OF MANKIND.

SLAYER OF EVIL. AND I AM YOUR BROTHER.

ALLWAYS.
