Firefox killer[edit]

If they properly advertise Chrome (i.e. on their regular search mask) it has the potential to kill any browser, most importantly the market leader, Internet Explorer. And I'd imagine that's Google's main motivation. --+Deprifry+ 01:22, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not going to kill any big browser. Sure, it'll make Safari and Opera look nonexistant, but it won't kill Firefox, let alone Internet Explorer. Didn't people say Firefox was going to kill IE as well? Look how that turned out. And most Firefox users will stay with Firefox just because of its usability (extensions, feature set, etc). Google Chrome lacks the features and stability to "kill" any browsers at this point; and even in the future, I doubt it's going to do much except, like I said, take shares from Safari and Opera (which aren't that popular anyway). They have to really change their game plan if they want to beat out Firefox, and they won't beat out Internet Explorer for the same reason Firefox didn't: it comes with Windows. 71.237.230.194 02:41, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Monopoly abuse[edit]

I believe it's quite random, because it was announced so suddenly! Now Google will use it's monopoly power to ask millions of people to download it when they download something like Google Earth. --Mephiles (talk) 12:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Addons[edit]

marketability[edit]

I used chrome for a bit and it looks like it has great potential.But how is google going to market this to major corparations which seems to be microsoft's major stronghold.pretty much every major company uses windows and thus I.E.Firefox which a better browser than I.E (my opinion ofcourse)has only made a minor dent in microsoft dominance.Dont get me wrong chrome will be profible and every gamer and comp geek will sonn be hooked .But the era of microsoft dominance is far from over. --137.111.130.35 02:37, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't going to. Chrome is targetted towards the average user, not corporations. There are way too many privacy/stability concerns to use it in a corporate environment. The V8 JavaScript engine is the only part of Chrome that I believe has potential in that area, just because it's so fast. 71.237.230.194 02:43, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About Chrome...[edit]

Either way, if it allows some sort of interconnected fashion with the other Google gadgets (gmail, calendar, etc. (which, knowing Google sounds the case)), then it sounds like a very good web browser. Fephisto (talk) 11:44, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
