Why when everyone is looking at you to do the right thing would you support prostitution when everyone is against it??? When you also know that it would be bad for your public image?? Also if your trying to help the common good would you support something like that?

I think that the now former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer made the right choice by resigning, even though he had no other choice other than to stand impeachment. I want to add a few pieces of my opinion before i close this small statement. We know that what this man did was wrong. Even if prostitution was legal, what he did was wrong for many reasons. One, he was a married man, and two, throughout his political career as governor, he had made promise to take action against New York prostitution rings. The latter making him a hypocrite. But I'm not here to bash him for his actions, I'm here to state a few forgotten facts. We in American tend to forget that even the highest political officials are human. Not only that but we sometimes ALSO forget that small aspects of someones life such as education and political power do NOT change the person. What am I trying to get at here? I'm not standing for his innocence, no. I'm just here to point out something very obvious and small. You do not have to agree with the man, only understand. Let the man go on his way, his career is already over.

Now if you all will excuse me, I must get to class.

Don't Legislate Morality[edit]

I think the state has no right to prohibit sex between consenting adults. They should instead focus on a way to regulate prostitution for increased safety of the customer and the provider. Laws should protect people from becoming victims and not restrict any other activity or freedoms.Electricmic - (talk) 19:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The new dude[edit]

I suspect the biggest thing about this won't be (in the end), Spitzer's leaving, but this new governor's coming. He'll be interesting, and may finish off the term in a good style. 68.39.174.238 21:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, we are talking about the first blind governor ever... and he's black on top of that. --TUFKAAP - (talk) 22:48, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I mean in reference to how he runs the state. He's got almost an entire term to do almost whatever. He could really do something nice... Ofcourse, the biggest thing ever would be if the state upper house switched. 68.39.174.238 00:31, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After Spitzer[edit]

Do you think this scandal may hinder the Democratic effort of taking back state senate next fall? tcp-ip - (talk) 17:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
