"The type of attack ... and the fact that the victim here is openly gay lends itself for investigators to believe it's that most repulsive of crimes ".So the fact that the victim was gay makes the crime more serious?
I have no problem with equality for gay people but I don't see why a crime against them is more serious than a crime against anyone else. Anonymous101

Was it a hate crime?
After reading the information given about this incident, I found it a little hard to believe that it was being catergorized as a hate crime. The article points out that the three individuals were seen purchasing eggs prior to the incident. This does not mean that they set out to find a gay person to throw eggs at, nor is it possible to say that the only reason the person was attacked was because he was gay. It is very possible that the individuals were simply idiots who were being mean to anyone they came across. I would have been more incline to believe it was a hate crime if slur words or phrases were made during the incident. I am personally in support of hate crime laws being enacted and enforced, but there must be evidence of the incident be perpetuated do to the person's sexual preference.--Sldss71% (talk) 15:42, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Slss71%
