Summary

Description

The left part of the front building was added in 1761 and received a second story and a classicist facade in 1822. In 1840, physicist Heinrich Gustav Magnus bought the house and furnished it with a laboratory, a lecture room and his private collection of physical instruments. The building was only slightly damaged in WWII and served as seat of the German-Soviet Friedship Society after the war. Starting in 1958, the Physical Society of the GDR resided here. The house is now seat of the German Physical Society. It has been designated a historic landmark.
