Portal:New Zealand/Election 08
Wikipedia, Wikinews' sibling project, has in-depth background articles on:
The New Zealand General Election project is a project of Wikinews New Zealand. Its goal is to produce neutral original reporting on the 2008 New Zealand Election.
It is expected to take place in late 2008, and must be held no later than 15 November 2008. However, the election may take place any time before that if the Prime Minister asks for the House of Representatives to be dissolved before then.
This project page serves to organise participants and resources to continue this work. Feel free to edit anything, it belongs to the community. Discussion on the talk page.

Original source material [edit]
Original source material is media releases, speeches, interview transcripts, blogs, interviews conducted by Wikinews contributors, and anything that hasn't been filtered through another news agency. One of the goals of this project is to use original source material whenever possible, and only resort to sourcing another news agency if an original source cannot be found.
Seeking comments directly [edit]
Contributors to this project are encouraged to seek comments and opinions directly by phoning or emailing politicians, activists, etc, and asking them questions. This is what paid reporters spend their time doing, but anyone can do it - everyone is pushing a point-of-view, and they will give that point-of-view to anyone who rings up, because it is in their interest to get it out into the media. Be bold!
