Talk:Bodies of Afghan boy, Canadian soldier returned
- Opps I probably forgot to take it off the disputed list. FellowWikiNews (W) 16:41, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Why are we conflating the 2 events? Perhaps there was an incident that also led to the car bomb which killed the Canadian, thus making that killing in the "aftermath"? Maybe those bombers' children were collateral damage last week from a coalition air attack which was perhaps a result of a suicide bomb that killed coalition soldiers the week before.
To be npov we should not be embracing the theory that the killing of the boy is a direct or even indirect killing of the soldier. Some western media may do that as they did initially by conflating the rape and killing of the young Iraqi girl with the mutalation of US soldiers' bodies but we should not be making that type of assumptive leap in deduction, imo. - In short, this should be 2 articles, not a conflated 1. Neutralizer 13:45, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- the article has about two paragraphs on the death of the canadian soldier, not enough to write as a separate article. i intend to write a lead paragraph summarising the story and publish it. conflating a couple of incidents which happened two hours apart at the same location is not such an big deal. We are not conflating the two stories, military officials are claiming that the shooting happened because of the fear of a suicide bombing, this is attributed, moreover we are not conflating because both incidents occured at the same site within two hours of each other and the area was cordoned off because of the first incident - the motorcycle is alleged to have passed through that cordon so yes, the stories are related regardless of whether or not the claims by the military are true.
