The relevance about Ford being an appointed President is that he was the only President that never was elected as a President or a Vice President that becomes President. There of course have been Vice Presidents who became President when the President died in office, but they had elected as Vice President by the electoral college (see 25th Amendment, §2. –152.7.54.131 19:15, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
