Shouldn't the Fort Wayne area include the counties fo Paulding and Ven Wert, Ohio?
- No...as part of Wikinews Indiana, it's limited to Indiana counties. If someone wanted to create a Wikinews Ohio, they'd be more than free to include those counties as well.Kurt Weber 20:17, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Then Wikinews will observe artifical boundaries instead of being useful to our readers? Having grown up in the Ft. Wayne and worked in news in the northeast Indiana area, I can assure you, folks in Van Wert and Paulding counties consider themselves part of Fort Wayne and are closer to Fort Wayne than Langrange - which considers itself to be part of the South Bend-Elkhart area. Cities located on a state border extend culturally beyond political boundary lines. I'm not sure forcing unnatural coverage areas by state boundary lines is the correct way to do this. -- Davodd | Talk 20:49, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- If that's how you want to look at it, sure. I live in Southwest Indiana, and the Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Henderson/Owensboro, KY areas consider themselves part of this area, but I'm not including them, either. Grouping by defined political boundaries rather than regional boundaries that may or may not cross state lines and have no apparent significance to someone from outside the area makes it easier for an outsider to find news pertaining to a specific area.Kurt Weber 00:41, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)
