"not to select for resistance"?? what does that even mean? if this drug kills hiv, of course it selects for resistance, that's basic evolutionary theory... what is this guy even trying to say? i can't accept that a netherlands doctor doesn't know anything about biology, so what's he trying to say by that?
- If it breaks down the protein coat in certain ways, it could be very difficult for the virus to adapt to it. It is attacking the virus particle directly instead of interfering with metabolism, which is the current paradigm for HIV treatment. Here's the Wikipedia article discussing antiretrovirals, which is the status quo for HIV treatment. The article is describing a potentially novel form of HIV treatment, provided Wikipedia is accurate. ^_^ -- Canar 00:20, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
