As i understand it, what we have here is a claim by just one party, unconfirmed by any other party. I therefore propose to change the title to reflect this - for example, by adding the word "possibly". --82.141.52.57 08:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mullah Mohammad Omar was an amputee whose beard was graying and conducted many interviews before being killed by Afghan and coalition forces. the first part doesnt read well - amputee, graying beard and interviews have nothing to do with each other. more importantly, WP has no mention of Omar beig dead, which is also my understanding of the situation. where is the statement of death sourced from? –Doldrums(talk) 09:04, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having "Reports" and "possibly" is sort-of redundant. The first implies that there is a report that has no confirmation, the second makes it appear the report covered in the story is unsure if he's dead. Obituary?[edit]

I don't know how strict we are on the obit category. But this seems to be a strech. An obituary would normally give a fuller account of the deceased's life. --SVTCobra 23:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is well known that Mullah Dadullah was the highest-ranking Taliban leader after Mullah Mohammad Omar. He was a mullah or akhund who hailed from the Oruzgan province. He viewed "suicide attacks" as "martyrdom operations"; he glorified the idea of "martyrdom operations" in his speeches and pledged to send out more of them. He knew a little Arabic from his Islamic studies but was not capable of conducting an entire interview in Arabic. The language he knew best was Pashtun. He was partly responsible for putting down the revolt of the Afghan Hazaras in 1999. There was a link to Wikiquote for Mullah Dadullah that was removed.--Blivit 06:23, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Madrassas[edit]

"However, it is a known that he used to attend madrassas" - Corrected the obvious grammatical error, but I'm not quite sure what to derive from the sentence anyway. It seems a bit abrupt, pointless, and irrelevant. Also note that "madrassa" is simply the arabic word for "school". I'd like to see it removed, as it doesn't add anything to the article, while also disrupting the flow of the rest of the article. -Etafly 05:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All Taliban (Islamic students) have studied in madrassas (Islamic religious schools). Other sentences that I had added were gradually whittled away. I wanted to turn it into an obituary and include things like Dadullah moved to Karachi where he reportedly visited madrassas to motivate religious fervor among the students and encourage them to join a holy war against foreign troops in Afghanistan, labeling these troops infidels, but I gave up.--Blivit 06:45, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
