Title[edit]

This needs a shorter title. :-) If expanded a bit more, then something might become obvious - like a alliterative description of the Common Characteristics of the Crimes. Brian McNeil / talk 18:05, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

how about "House of Freaks serial slayers found in Philly". 132.159.147.78 19:33, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can see use for the "serial slaters" alliteration, that's good. But unless I'm missing something I don't see where the "house of freaks bit comes from". I'll have another look at this and see if I can use the "serial slayers" bit anywhere. Brian McNeil / talk 19:44, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
One of the salient angles of this story (besides the brutality of the slaying, the prominence of the family within the Richmond artsy community, and the relationship of the wife to Depserate Housewives' Rex Van De Kamp) is that Bryan Harvey was one of a member of the w:House of Freaks, a rock duo that made some waves in late 1980s. I think the current title (Richmond serial slayers arrested in Philadelphia) sounds good to me132.159.147.78 21:57, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad you like my effort on the title, and thanks for the info on where the proposed one came from. I don't think we could go with that without a bit more to back that up.
Until these two are found guilty they are alleged slayers not slayers. Wjbean 18:32, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(ABC) (New York Daily News) (Billboard) CBS news Early Show These sources were the first wave of news on Monday the 2nd of January and they pretty much back up what I said before. 132.159.147.78 22:20, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about a more accurate title? They aren't serial slayers until proven guilty, right?

ok, go with suspected serial slayers ... and now they have waived extradition ... meaning they will return to VA [1]132.159.147.78 22:36, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, This article [2] ... says that "Police in southwestern Pennsylvania said Monday they were investigating whether the men had any connection to the death of Gray's wife, Treva, whose body was found Nov. 5 near Washington, Pa., 10 days after Dandridge was released from a Virginia prison" ... we may want to include something like that bu I don't know how to do the source thing yet. 132.159.147.78 22:48, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for that information, but couldn't find it! (thank you) The story is so fractured across different media sources. -Edbrown05 22:56, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's one more bit: [3] It looks like there was a slaying in w:Culpeper County, Virginia murders Dec 10, 2005 where a woman who was found shot in the head and hanged in the basement and the house set on fire. More links from Culpeper here [4] [5] It's too early to tell whether this crime is related, but it is the first homicide in culpeper county since May 2003 according to sources posted here. They are doing DNA testing to find out if there's a match with the suspects 132.159.147.78 21:28, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, here's a link that says warner was on the phone with her dad when a suspicious stranger knocked on her front door to ask for directions [6], which is the MO of the Harvey suspects. 132.159.147.78 21:38, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the link from their arraignment [7] "They were arraigned on four murder conspiracy charges related to the New Year's Day slayings of a couple and their two children and one murder conspiracy count related to three killings on Friday. They're also charged with grand larceny" Eltoro 22:11, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I got some advice that says wikinews stories are created as news events happen. I am not familiar with wikinews culture just yet, but it seems to me that it will be exhausting writing a new story each time some minor new event happens in this case. Richmond suspected serial slayers to be extradited Richmond suspected serial slayers are extradited Richmond suspected serial slayers are tried in Virginia New facts about Richmond suspected serial slayers discovered in Northern Virginia ... and so on. Until something profound and different happens, I am going to keep posting links to this story on this article. Like this one that says that they have discovered a new years eve stabbing that may be linked to the "Richmond Serial slayers." It is beginning to look like these guys were on a killing rampage.
