Re. Spanish sources[edit]

Information extracted from the "El Expreso de la Costa" source:

  • "El 1 de abril en el local de votación Escuela Digna Camilo se enfrentan Andrea Aranda y Roberto Córdova en históricas primarias." - page 1. "On April 1, in the Escuela Digna Camilo polling station, Andrea Aranda y Roberto Córdova face each other in historic primaries."
  • "Por Pichilemu con fuerza de mujer." -page 4. "For Pichilemu with woman's strength". (Aranda's slogan)
  • "En esta elección voluntaria pero muy necesaria, los invito a todos para que Pichilemu sea cada día mejor." - page 5. "In this voluntary but necessary election, I invite everyone for Pichilemu to be every day better." (Roberto Córdova quote)
  • "Como mujer, soy sensible, a la necesidad humana, y valiente para defender la causa de la familia. Mi compromiso es trabajar, disponiendo todas mis capacidades, por tareas concretas y materialización de sueños junto a usted." - page 4. "As a woman, I'm sensitive to human neccessity, and brave to defend the cause of family. My commitment is to work, providing all my capacities, for concrete works and materialization of dreams with you." (Aranda's quote)
  • "asegura que su contendor está haciendo campaña con recursos municipales, alguien preguntó por ahí, ¿se olvida ella que su esposo hizo lo mismo años atrás cuando fué elegido por tres periodos?" - December 2011 edition page 7.   • "Este domingo a partir de las 8:00 de la mañana y hasta las 16.00 horas de la tarde, se realizarán las primarias de la Concertación, instancia en la que el bloque opositor elegirá un candidato único para la alcaldía de Rancagua, en el marco de las elecciones municipales del 28 de octubre." - On Sunday, from 8:00 am until 16:00 in the afternoon, the Concertación primaries will take place, instance in which the opposition wil choose a unique candidate for the mayorship of Rancagua, for the municipal elections of 28 October.
  • "Pueden votar todos los inscritos en los registros electorales, menos aquellos que militen en partidos ajenos al pacto. El requisito, para extranjeros y nacionales, es estar inscrito en los registros al 30 de noviembre de 2011." - Everyone inscribed in poll registries can vote, except those part of parties outside the coalition. The requisite, for foreigners and nationals, is to be inscribed in the registries before 30 nov. 2011.

  • Uno de los candidatos es el actual alcalde (PS) Roberto Córdova Carreño junto a la actual concejal (PPD) Andrea Aranda Escudero, quien por esas casualidades de la vida es la esposa del ex alcalde democratacristiano Jorge Vargas González (condenado por la justicia por el delito de cohecho y presentación de testigos falsos) y quien está –muy a su pesar-impedido de seguir en la política activa, por ahora, pero tiene el consuelo de quien le sigue los pasos.
    • One of the candidates is the current Mayor (PS) Roberto Córdova Carreño with the current councillor (PPD) Andrea Aranda Escudero, who coincidentally is the wife of former Christian Democrat mayor Jorge Vargas González (condemned by justice for the crime of bribery and the presentation of false witnesses), and who is –much to his regret– disallowed to continue [participating] in active politics, for now, but has the relief of the one following his steps.

  • More about the nature of the OR information would have been good — as a reviewer, of course I always want more to check against :-). I also hesitated over the Bellaco quote, as I really wanted to understand its context better (my access to that source is only at very low resolution).
  • Although Wikipedia is not itself trust-worthy, of course, those articles were almost entirely written by the original reporter who wrote this article; one detail taken from there appeared not to have been provided by the reporter, but a sanity check was successful.

Thanks for the review Pi zero. The context of the Bellaco article was that there was too many people fighting for mayorship and other public charges in the commune and for that purpose they went on to provoke each other, something that the writer did "not like". Things we could have done better[edit]

  • In retrospect, if we expected to update this article significantly after publication, that is exactly what tag {{breaking}} is for: to warn the reader at the time of publication that there may be significant changes after publication.
  • It's not appropriate to change the focus of an article after publication; therefore, the article should not have been renamed from "primary held" to "Cordova wins primary". It should have been sufficient to say in the article that the primary was held and the result was that he won; and if that were deemed not sufficient, a new article should have been created, invoking the earlier article as Related news and drawing in whole passages of the earlier article (which can be done without altering them at all unless it's convenient, since they're already under a compatible license). Once the updating article was published, one would then use template {{update}} on the earlier article.
