OR[edit]

I am living in the area. I mostly got the information through TV, and by my reporting on the beach on yesterday's evening. It all was fun until the police took us off :P Fabricio Cáceres said that on his TV program "Recuerdos del ayer" (which showcases music videos of the sixties and all that jazz, but they decided apparently to give information regarding the tsunami warning). The rest of the information, is mine. And obviously the pictures might prove you I was there! Diego Grez return fire 14:30, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

additional OR notes[edit]

Some 'breaking news' informations came just some minutes ago, Radio Entre Olas reported water came 70 meters inland and Governor of Cardenal Caro spoke with Jorge Vargas (Radio Somos Pichilemu) saying that the tsunami almost affected the Government of the province. Dunno if these are correct BR/OR notes, but anyway. Diego Grez return fire 16:47, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FA[edit]

When you guys are finished editing this, it definitely needs to be nominated as an FA. --Ashershow1talk 18:01, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it does. The FA guidelines state that an article must be archived prior to nomination, so it can be nominated in about a week. Δενδοδγε t\c 18:16, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PDI = FBI?[edit]

Is it accurate to compare the PDI with the FBI? I'm not sure that a federal police and a unitary state police can be accurately compared. 76.117.247.55 (talk) 11:03, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, you have a point. I believe the original intention was to compare the groups' activities, since few people outside Chile have heard of the PDI. However, this function can be covered adequately by a wikilink. I'll wait for more input first, but I don't think it would count as a major content edit to remove the parenthesised comment (and thus allowable after more than 24 hours have passed) - I also don't think it warrants a {{correction}}. As I said, however, I will await further input before changing anything. Δενδοδγε t\c 17:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would have been worse to compare the Carabineros de Chile with the FBI. What the FBI does is mostly investigations, if I recall correctly. That's what the PDI does, investigative work, and of course detentions, and all that kind of things. Not a perfectly accurate comparation, but it's good to give an idea of what PDI is. --Diego Grez return fire 22:04, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
