  • Use your own words, phrases, and sentence structure.
  • It helps a lot, in writing synthesis to be very distant from sources, to avoid one-to-one correspondences between sentences in the synthesis and sentences in the sources.
  • Do not copy lengthy passages verbatim from sources; a good rule of thumb is, there shouldn't be more than three consecutive words from a source (with common-sense exceptions, like titles).
  • Do not copy passages from sources and then change words around here and there (such as using "synonyms") to make them "different" — that still adds up to copyvio.
  • It's way easier for an author to write an article so it's all very distant from the sources in the first place, than it is for the author or anyone else to increase the distance later.
  • I've judged myself still sufficiently uninvolved to review. Adding content is a fast track to involvement; removals for cause are generally pretty safe; rephrasing for distance from source has to be judged case-by-case (it helps if much of the rephrasing is removal).
The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer.
