Original reporting notes[edit]

Interview with Dr. Shoshana Zimmerman of eHealth Institute was done by Mead Rose. Substantive original content consisted of a discussion of factors which lead to under-reporting of bird flu in rural Asian countries. - unsigned comment by User:67.124.231.197

Slight confusion[edit]

Does the opening mean reporting of bird flu infections among humans, or should it read "Under reporting of bird flu infections among poultry stocks in China"? Brian McNeil / talk 23:50, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Response to slight confusion[edit]

The under-reporting applies to both bird infections and human infections. Many of the factors cited that limit reporting apply to both. The case cited as an example of these factors in operation surrounded the death of on Chinese woman. While the death has been confirmed, and some birds in that area have been culled, there has been no cited effort to test for other possible H5N1 infections in birds or humans.
