Journalist notes[edit]

This was done at 8am yesterday at the airport in Madrid. The audio quality is kind of problematic and the in person translating was... fun again. I had three at various times: Michelle Alsonso's coach who did Michelle Alsonso and Omar Font. There was the team physician who did some with the María Delgado interview, and Deborah Font who also assisted with María Delgadoand the Marta Gomzez. My normal transcriber was not available. These interviews were done in advance of the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships which start Monday in Montreal.

UAwiki from Spanish Wikipedia did this transcript. The raw text they sent me of the transcript is below.

-This is Laura Hale, I'm interviewing Marta Gómez, it's a Spanish Paralympic swimmer going to the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal. Are you going to Montreal and what ¿strokes? and distances are you competing in?

-Voy a nadar los 100 [metros] y 400 libres, y los 200 estilo giro ¿?

-Are you going to win any medals?

-¿Vas a ganar alguna medalla?

-En Europeo 2011, en Berlín, gané 3 bronces.

-In Montreal, do you take ¿giro? medals in Montreal?

-Did you competed the previous Paralympic Games in London?

-Sí.

-And no medals?

-No. Fui de ¿cima? en Londres.

-What's the difference preparing for London to the World Championships?

-¿Qué diferencia hay con Londres? [probably she said that]

-Are you a swimmer with a visual impediment? Can not see...?

-¿De qué categoría eres?

-S3D.

-When you swim, can you see the swimmers next to you?

-When you swim, do you mostly think about your own race and you cannot ¿fully? see everyone? Do you race more against yourself because you can not see?

-Why did you choose swimming as oppose to athletics or ¿? or some other sport.

-Gracias.

-De nada.

Caveat[edit]

The transcription of the first of these used machine translations in both directions (though the transcriber's function of writing down what was said in Spanish seemed to be done competently, as far as I noticed). --Pi zero (talk) 01:56, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Er. Yes. This. Hopefully that was explained. I tried to get the text into more sensible order. :/ --LauraHale (talk) 07:56, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
