Pre-publication notes[edit]

Please note that Robert asked for an interview in Dutch, so the questions will be translated and the responses will be translated also. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 15:25, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed an incorrect parenthetical remark in the question about how he found using Wikipedia when editing the article about himself: "which is actually against Wikipedia policy, due to conflict of interest". Editing articles in which you have a vested interest is allowed by WP:COI, even though it's not recommended and you are expected to exercise a great deal of caution. For that matter, WP:COI isn't a policy. --192.193.245.16 16:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've prepared the interview and am planning to send the e-mail today. If you can improve the English and such further, or have other suggestions, they are most welcome! --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 15:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Raw version[edit]

Available on this subpage to work on: Wikinews talk:Story preparation/Interview with world wide web co-inventor Robert Cailliau/Interview. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 20:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Too long?[edit]

Perhaps this interview could have been split up over time to make it smaller? --Nzgabriel | Talk 03:49, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reckoned that those interested would read it in one piece, or in 2-3 sessions depending on their time. Obviously it is very long, but it's a work in one piece. I'm open to suggestions though.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 06:47, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be much easier to read if there were links to each section or maybe every question, however this would create a large link box, ill do the work but don't know if it would be appreciated?
I don't know, I'll add back the sections link box, but don't think a link to every question is a good idea. It's just a long interview, take your time to read it if you're interested but I think it is a work in one piece. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 13:55, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just read it, Steven, and thoroughly enjoyed it as is. Well done! Jcart1534 14:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where do all the anon's come from?[edit]

Maybe slashdot: "a long and interesting interview". --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 06:45, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wrong link[edit]

at the paragraph

  • "Robert Cailliau: In 1990 I had already left programming for ten years and was doing management. I'm also 8 years older than Tim, who himself was no longer a young programmer. It was evident that I could not compete with twenty year old Unix hackers and soon I stopped meddling with the writing of C code. Anyway I know only one programming language worse than C and that is Javascript."

the link to the c programming language is wrong! can somebody correct it? Mabdul (talk) 13:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thank you! --InfantGorilla (talk) 13:57, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
