Interview notes[edit]

My raw notes, typed on the fly while on the phone London Met occupation evicted at midnight by police.

On phone with one of the occupiers: John Hughes, stydent 2nd year sociology and international devel;opment not sure if course is on the chopping block, joint course migyht be cut

mature student - 35, working most of my life, traveling, living in Hackney and Brixton. Norn in Hackneys, North London.

"we're a very mixed grop, some from london, some from ioutside lonsdon workinc class and some some middle class"

- When were you served with the injunction?

"we were served with the injuction basically on the spot by 2 county court sherruffs as well as 4 police officers, 10 bailffs" "we werew given minutes notice"

"we need time to read this" we were given ten minutes to read it and take our stuff.

"I've had a bit of advice who are not actually lawyers"

"There's definitely someone there who hadn't committed trespass at all". It was applied for without notifying occupiers. thet have to have another heraing the occuupiers can attend.

- When did you know the police were in the building?

"as I came in the area we were occupying they came straight in the door, I saw three gentlemen come straight in and thety delivered the inhunctonb asically

"there was noi warninhgf at all"

2:30am wntry -- the uni'#s been employinf an outside security firm, 25 a day. basically art some point lasr night they kicked open one of the doors stainfg there wasd an alarm giong ooff, which ther wasbl;t, appears tghey may have vbroken onme o the fpprsd.

"One of the members of the security team said through the doors to a young lady, 'you should put up a picture of yourself, something that's more sexy'. 'I'm quite a big door, and if I wanted to come into the occupation I would. Two young ladies are not going to stop me.'

thte's been a dew other incidents wgere they've been kicking doors to awke people up, there's vbeen a dew racist comments overheard.

-there were varios agreements regareding access, you had to show your ID card to get in nd you needed to show it again to get into the actual occupation space.

LMU security agreed that they could have food but no other deliveries. There was a bit of a dispute between the internal and external security.

Regarding the vice chancellor, the demands of the occupation were put ot the VC by e-mail. "Today there was a liason between the head of the student union and hte managemnent that there would be a meeting at 6 o'clock, but then during the exam Jonathon Wood turned up at theoccupation" "I don't actually think you will be having a meeting with the vice chancellor" I find that very disrespectful and condescending

later on an agreement was made to meet te vice chancellor at 9:30am tomorrow. vc decided not to

- How long would you have been able to hold out for?

we had food there, water and drinks for a while. I'm not sue fior how long.

when it started it was about 60, when we were bnooted there were at least 20.

Sorry - I didn't foresee that consequence. (I was merely trying to avoid a leaving a trail of redirects when my imagination failed to offer up a snappier title.) --InfantGorilla (talk) 14:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Review of revision 1229509 [Passed][edit]

I tried to get a comment off London Met, their switchboard wasn't picking up. --Killing Vector (talk) 13:08, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
