Ties announced in UEFA Champions League

Both the quarterfinal and semifinal draws were announced for the UEFA Champions League. The round of sixteen saw the current cup holders, Barcelona, eliminated along with Serie A holders Internazionale, Scottish Premiership holders Celtic, and Ligue 1 holders Lyon. The current champions the respective leagues still in the competition are Bayern Munich and Chelsea. Of the three English sides remaining, none will face each other in the quarterfinals, and upon winning their quarterfinals draw, Manchester United is still guaranteed a placement against a non-English club.

Quarterfinals

AC Milan v Bayern Munich

AC Milan scraped by Celtic last round thanks to a late goal by Kaka, while Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid on away goals to advance to the quarters. The first leg shall be at San Siro stadium at Milan, and the second leg at Allianz Arena, Munich.

PSV Eindhoven v Liverpool

PSV have already downed one English side, Arsenal, in the knockout stages, and can hope to do so again against Liverpool, who are coming off the aggregate win over current champions Barcelona. The first leg is to be played in Holland and the second leg at Anfield. Liverpool will be looking to defeat PSV for the second time in this years competition after beating them at home in the group stages.

AS Roma v Manchester United

Roma defeated French side Lyon last round, and now have their sights on Premiership leaders Manchester United, who defeated Lille in the round of 16. Manchester United have the advantage of playing the second leg at home in the Old Trafford Stadium.

Chelsea v Valencia

Premiership title holders Chelsea, who trumped Porto last round will face Valencia, the only Spanish club left in the competition. Valencia defeated Inter Milan last round. The first leg will be at Stamford Bridge.

Ties to be played April 24/25 and May 1/2

Final

The final of the 2006-07 UEFA Champions League shall be held at the Olympic Stadium, Athens on May 23, 2007.
