A United States Marine has been charged in a case involving the alleged rape of a 14-year-old Japanese girl.
Staff Sgt. Tyrone Luther Hadnott has been charged with various offenses including rape of a child under 16, abusive sexual contact with a child, kidnapping, adultery, and making a false official statement.
There were protests in Japan as a result of the alleged crimes. The Guardian reports that an estimated 300 women protested in Okinawa.
