 NASA launches Space Shuttle Atlantis Just after 2 p.m. EDT (1800 UTC) Tuesday, the Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off above Florida on its two day journey to the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to embark on repairs.
 Indo-Canadian teens kidnapped, found dead in car Eighteen-year-old Joseph Randay and Dilsher Singh Gill, seventeen, were kidnapped Thursday evening and found dead Friday morning on Lower Sumas Mountain Road near Abbotsford, British Columbia. Police believe the teens were kidnapped at gun point from the Bateman Park in Abbotsford following an altercation. The two teens were twelfth grade students.
 2,000 face redundancy at English steelworks Corus Group, the world's fifth largest steel producer, announced on Friday that it may be forced to mothball its steelworks in Redcar, England. This move would threaten the jobs of the works' 1,920 employees.

 Wildfire in California displaces 30,000 The recent Jesusita Fire in Santa Barbara County, California, has burned more than 8,600 acres of land over the last four days. Over 75 homes were destroyed, and more than 30,500 residents were evacuated.
