  • Hands up who has edited Wikinews.

Wikinews has "grown up" over the last 2 years, now running into issues where getting the Foundation to stand behind our original reporting is an issue.

Projects such as Chinese and Polish are popular. French wikinews has good participation and a nice looking site, fr:Accueil.

Do you watch the news on TV, or read a newspaper? Do you follow the Netherlands equivalent of sites such as BBC News Online? Basically, do you take an interest in Current Affairs? If you do, then when you find a story that you take an interest in you should be posting it on Wikinews, in as many languages as you can.

I want to see a few people leave this conference and adopt the Nederlands Wikinews. Sure, it isn't as big, and it isn't as famous as Wikipedia. However, some of those attributes work in your favour. You're not a small fish in a big pond, and your contributions on Wikinews make a far bigger difference than on Wikipedia where they're a drop in the ocean. There is more opportunity to start and write new articles as there are new events to cover all the time.
