Monday, January 23, 2006 {{editorial}} …and there is only one question in my mind: “Why? Why? Why???”

I am living fare away from my origin city Vladivostok, where my family still lives, my mother, my friends... When I waked up on the 16th January 2006 – in my origin city bad things already happened…

I heared via the radio news, and I knew about great tragedy in my city Vladivostok: In a business centre 9 people was perished. It happened at the 8th floor of the business centre which was a Bank Building. The staff of this Bank was mainly young women, who had familys, children. Who went to their work in that morning with ordinary minds, like:”what will my daughter wear for the school today…” or “what specials can i cook tonight for my husband…” or simular…just ordinary things of usual people.

But THIS DAY they didn’t came back home.

When I was watching the TV-News – i failed in crying – the pictures was such terrible: tongues of the flames came out of the windows, and women were jumping wild screamings from the 8th and 9th floors down to the ground! At the ground – many people, tryed to lay their wear and pasteboard boxes on the asphalt in order to recue the jumpers without succes and hope. The Firefighters was usuales… they just sayed: “Our ladders are not long enough… Very sorry”. Not long enouhg to help burning people ???.

Now it is too late to talk about the possibilities to rescue this people…people – from dead, their families – from distress, children – from orphan hood…and our souls – from this great sin.

But it is right moment now to find the answers of this tragety: Why this poor people has to die? Where was the helicopters, trampolines to rescue them? Who was responsible for absence fire technique in this Building? Why the firefighters came that much to late? Why the fire-exits was blocked ? And how can we find now the true?

From day to day official reports became out with less and less informations. And nobody comments this horror…We bore in tragedy with the “Kursk”, be bear now, we bear over and over, but this wild still malice increases in us, in our children… and I afraid, we will become soon like zombies: without feelings (– we couldn’t cry, watching dead –) and not alive anymore…when tragedys like this happened.

P.S. …by the way, officials sayed that just 9 people was dead, BUT eyewitnesses says, on the same night, other dead bodies was taken out of this building…

                                                                                                   Anastasia Aralova.
