Welcome!

67.71.155.212, welcome to Wikinews! Thank you for your contributions I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikinews, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!–Doldrums(talk) 10:39, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

speedy[edit]

pls be judicious in tagging articles for speedy deletion. see the guidelines. this article will report on today's development in the story and can be renamed if the focus changes. that is not in itself a reason for speedy deletion. if u are a Wikipedia user, do note that Wikinews' purpose, policies and processes are not identical to that of WP. the above links will tell u more. –Doldrums(talk) 10:46, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i was speaking of this edit which was done from the IP address u're currently using. if you are using an dialup or other Dynamic IP service, then it is possible that ur IP address was assigned to someone else before. one way to avoid all this would be to register an account, which will give you several benfits. –Doldrums(talk) 19:11, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
couple of things. the WP article is written by User:EnviroGranny, if u're this user, pls login to WP and respond to the message Steven has left on that user's talk page to confirm that u're the same user. further, this article is written in the form of an encyclopedia piece and needs to be formatted per Wikinews Style guide before it can be published. you can either take a shot at it urself or wait for other editors to do it. only afterwards can it be published. –Doldrums(talk) 19:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CIA book story[edit]

I've un-published again. There's no use keeping to change it back to publish: please address the concerns listed on the page instead. Expand it instead of simply publishing it.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 18:23, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I don't have the time any more today... You can ask another admin, or use the "Upload fair use media" button on the left sidebar. You can see e.g. this image Image:Logo Silverlight.gif how it works. You'll need to create an account, I think.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 19:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment
This is the contributions page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account and/or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
