Comments by reviewer:
- Newsworthiness calls for the focal news "event or phenomenon" to be specific, relevant, and fresh.
- A canonical example: continental drift is not newsworthy, but an earthquake may be. Note that someone putting out a report about continental drift, or an interview with someone about continental drift, might be newsworthy; it's certainly specific enough, so it'd be down to relevance and freshness.
-
- The focus described by the headline and lede here appears to be in itself not nearly specific enough. It's way too spread out in time, over years.
- Freshness is moderately straightforward for synthesis. But for OR, it depends on the nature of the OR. A major interview might have quite a shelf life, depending on the nature of the interview but probably a few weeks.
- The element here seemingly specific enough is that an interview took place. That is specific. But if I'm understanding the (curt but perhaps adequate) OR notes correctly, there appear to be only two bits of the article that are actually from the interview, and they don't seem to be substantial enough to build an article on. Further, the interview took place nearly a month ago, and even with a major interview we'd likely be glancing nervously at the clock by now.
