Should be careful in using info from Press releases in a medical article, especially one that promotes a medication

Per Scientists create schizophrenic brain cells, much of that info seems to be sources to a Press release which in most settings, that is not considered an unbiased source. Especially a Press release that promotes a specific medication. Forgive me if I am too ethical on this issue, but wikinews hopefully will seek to improve the generally awful coverage of medical issues in the general news. Hi Gryllida. If you've got time, please take a look at your RfA nomination. There are serious concerns, pointed out by Matisse. Thank you. ディエゴ ¡Yo te odio! 01:51, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I will leave wikinews until when or if this is resolved

I have never sought out Brian McNeil, so the answer is for me to leave. Thanks for your advice. Regards, Mattisse (talk) 00:29, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Recent article on Photovoltaic Materials

Hi -- The source is a peer reviewed science journal. There aren't any other sources to cite.

I understand that this isn't allowed by official Wikinews policy, but it does seem logical that peer-reviewed science journals already have had their contents reviewed by (usually) three other scientists, plus the editor before they can be published.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 134.139.234.235 (talkcontribs)

Hello, excuse me please but would you please declare to me as a newbe to wikinews what is the reason for you deleted this article?

In the german computer-news related field this news is taken very seroiusly and not as an advertisement! May be you got a false impression because I was to extatic by writing this article but the content seems to be true and very interesting, at least. The video on youtube is a interview with the BBC(british television news channel) as I understand. The newspaper-articles I stated are from german speaking countries(austria and germany) which are known to be serious.

So I please you to restore the article and reduce it to the facts or if you prefer I will reduce it after you restored it. --Peter Littmann (talk) 09:56, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've e-mailed the content to you, it is substantially promotional at this moment. Please review the key policies in the welcome template at your user talk page before you decide to re-create it. Gryllida 10:05, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Query regarding Tasmania pulp mill story

Hello,

thank you for taking the time to review my work. I am a little bit confused about one your comments:

- you stated that I need to refocus the story around a news event, however I am not sure why 3000 people protesting about the pulp mill is not considered news.

- also I added the duplicate story because I couldn't figure out how to change the header. The other header related to a much older version in which I lead with a story about a survey. The updated story was focussed on the protests, and so I thought the title should reflect that

Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dmessie (talkcontribs)

  • Thanks for asking - do you want to rename the page to the new title? Then you can mark the new one for deletion (author request). Then, once the new title is free, make use of the 'Move this page' link to change the header - see Wikipedia:Moving a page. Then the article history will be preserved. If you have any issues, just ask in here. Thanks again! --Gryllida (talk) 13:48, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
