SotU[edit]

Virginia Governor Thomas Kaine will be making the Democrat's rebuttal to the SotU. --TUFKAAP 03:02, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interviewing[edit]

I am new to the whole concept of interviewing people and reporting on Wikinews and have recently conducted two related interviews with people at the centre of MPAA launches seven lawsuits against torrent, ed2k and usenet sites. I think they will be of value to Wikinews, but am unsure of how to proceed. Any tips would be handy - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 02:54, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin[edit]

Congratulations, you are now an admin. Please review our policies before using your new powers, if you have not already done so. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me or any other admin.--Cspurrier 20:32, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Congratulations Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 20:39, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conversation: Why are you up MrM 's ass?[edit]

He deserved to be banned for a very long time a very long time ago. 1 hour doesn't cut it, buddy.

This got removed as vandalism, and it is, but I'll answer it anyway. MrM was blocked by Amgine, who was personally involved in the dispute. I will not revert any block of MrM by an uninvolved admin, but the block made by Amgine was clearly not allowed under the blocking policy. Ral315 23:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're hilarious. You get asked why your head is up someone's ass and you explain yourself. But I ask that people start to respect each other here and I get called a troll and you delete the text. Hahaha! Classic!

Indeed. I'm Classic. Ral315 (talk) 03:54, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protected your talk page[edit]

Howdy,

I've semi-protected your talk page as it seems to the target of much open proxy vandalism or something. I wouldn't leave it protected very long -- it will prevent new and IP editors from leaving you messages. --Chiacomo (talk) 03:48, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've unprotected it...just let the IPs have their fun. Talking to you, trolls: If you'd like to vandalize, you can try here as well. Ral315 (talk) 03:54, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify...I don't care if the text is deleted. But let them have a great time posting it, if they really have nothing better to do. Ral315 (talk) 05:08, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for arbitration[edit]

I've not yet voted on your RfAr as I'm not sure of the basis of the case. Is it your assertion that administrators violated the blocking policy? I understand that you're seeking clarification of policy. As the situation stands, I don't think any remedies would be helpful. It might be helpful for the ArbCom to attempt to clarify policy, but without an ongoing dispute, I'm not sure we should accept the request at all. Additionally, there have been recent changes to the blocking policy that thus far seem to be acceptable to the community. If these changes are ultimately accepted by the community, should the ArbCom accept this case? As Deprify has pointed out, MrM and Amgine, the apparent main actors in the wheel war, haven't expressed any interest in arbitration. Sorry if I'm rambling now, I'm a bit tired. If I can clarify my comments/questions here, please let me know. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:51, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IWWC[edit]

I thought it started yesterday, oops :) - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 21:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added my name to the judges list (I hope thats okay) Bawolff ☺☻ 01:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IWWC[edit]

I'm going to drop out of the IWWC, I have not got the time to write :) Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 02:34, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks re; NPOV tag[edit]

Ok, I disagree that a tag should be there with so little concrete justification, but thanks for the oversight. Neutralizer 13:40, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rfda[edit]

This is a message to inform you that I have added every administrator to the Rfda section on WN:A. This is not personal and I feel as if the community, who did not have the option of voting for or against most of the administrators, should be able to choose who they want to be in charge. I also want to say that I value everyones work on this site and I know that everyone does their best. I hope that none of you will take this personally and I hope that all of us will continue to work together. Jason Safoutin 12:17, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amgine vs. Jason[edit]

Thanks for looking into it, it looks a little delicate. Nyarlathotep 18:42, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IWWC- and Elliot K[edit]

I know he withdrew himself from the contest, but since he came back, and had enough jokers to go through that period without going out of the contest, I think we should invite him back in. (Note: I havn't talked to him yet, I don't even know if he still wants to participate, but I want to make sure we're on the same page before saying anythin.) Dispute Resolution[edit]

Hi, I've been on the boat and less than available for communications. I'm working my way through a very large stack of e-mails and other communiqué, and will get caught up with the dispute resolution as soon as I can. - Amgine | talk en.WN 01:50, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE IWWC contest[edit]

Not objections from me :) Jason Safoutin 01:05, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No objections here either, except we may need to set an end date on the thing - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 02:07, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No objection, but let us set an end date. PVJ (Talk) 04:13, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know about the OR requirement, it is sometimes hard to get OR stuff, I dont know how hard it is for the other guys - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 10:54, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great. I did read that incorrectly - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 21:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am considering dropping out of the contest due to the fact that the quality of my articles is dropping and I will soon have to start devoting more time to academic pursuits. Could you please inform me of what prize, if any, I will receive if I drop out at this stage and also how the said prize will be sent to me. PVJ (Talk) 16:52, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, in the interest of bringing the contest to an end within a reasonable point of time, we could disallow the use of jokers, and make it a sort of sidden-death contet where if a competitor does not write the requisite number of articles on a given date, he is eliminiated? PVJ (Talk) 11:51, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think thats fair. We earned our jokers. If you want to drop out then I see no issue with that. I do however don't like rules being changed without a discussion between judges and all contestants. Since the rules state that the last 3 contestants that remain win...I would have no problem ending the contest if no one else does. I also don't mind continueing til last man/woman standing...but with the current rules...but thats just me. Jason Safoutin 12:14, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have decided to drop out of the contest. Kindly do the needful. PVJ (Talk) 14:55, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Policy has users up in smoke[edit]

Hello. I am not sure if you check this page anymore, but I thought you might be interested as to what is going on here at Wikinews: Wikinews:Image use policy/New wikimedia policy action plan. I am outraged as well as others...do you have an opinion? DragonFire1024 09:52, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Embargoed wiki[edit]

We aren't in a shortage of places to host the wiki - just doing it with the foundation seemed like the best plan. Looks like it's going to be harder than it's worth at the moment - with al those policies it's a wonder that anything ever gets done. Oh wait. --Skenmy(tcw) 18:02, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FlaggedRevs[edit]

If you have not already seen this, please look, comment, and vote both here and on bugzilla. Further assistance such as contact information for Google would be a very useful detail to share and help in petitioning for a listing in their news index. --Brian McNeil / talk 15:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
