| You may send mail to me, too. But please don't unless there is an emergency. Use a talk page. |
[edit] Approved?
Has this bot been approved by Wikinews Administrators? I do not see it listed under Wikinews bots. -- NGerda 00:26, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- Looking at the bot's user page, it appears that Uncle G has specifically not requested bot status yet... Incidentally, we don't appear to have a published bot policy. In my opinion, the idea behind this bot is excellent. Do you have specific concerns about this bot, NGerda? --Chiacomo (talk) 00:36, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- Wikimedia policy is for all bots to be Admin-approved, or deleted. I do not have any specific concerns, it's just that this bot must follow policy, just as you or I must follow policy. -- NGerda 00:42, August 10, 2005 (UTC)
- "To register a bot, please mention its name and the local wiki on which it will work here and make a public announcement about your intention on the local wiki and add a link to this annoucement here. The status will be given if no one will oppose your request." (from Meta Permissions Page I wouldn't want to grant the bot flag without first seeing a bot's action publicly (and on RC). Testing before the flag is better than testing after the flag (where edits are less visible). Again, perhaps we should develop our own bot policy. --Chiacomo (talk) 00:51, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
