[edit] RE Root interview

It is published Wikinews interviews U.S. Libertarian presidential candidate Wayne Allyn Root. All articles appear on the main page, but its up to users to update the three lead articles. Yours was published on February 6. It might not be visible on the main page because you might have to click on the pull down menus. Only a few days are actually visible at a time. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually, WNewsReporter is referring to Wayne Allyn Root wins Missouri Libertarian primary and the the reason it was 'invisible' was a corrupt {{date}}. It has now been fixed. --SVTCobra 02:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. My mistake :) DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:26, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ever though of...

Getting accredited? --TUFKAAP - (talk) 01:17, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I've been on Wikinews long enough. I only signed up in early February. In a few months, though, maybe.--WNewsReporter - (talk) 01:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Article on Molossia

Just want to congratulate you on one of the most interesting articles I have read in a very long time. Great job - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 00:43, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 01:24, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
While it's interesting, please keep it as lead 4, no higher. To call this an interview with a "head of state" is ridiculous. As stated in Wikipedia, "the United States recognizes the territory of Molossia as part of the United States and exercises the same dominion over it as over any other part of that country." -- Zanimum - (talk) 15:42, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
That is true, but under the Montevideo Convention, anybody who wants to satrt a country can. So, I'll keep it as Lead 4, but change the title back to the way it was before. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 16:05, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but the point of the Montevideo Convention is for nations like Kosovo, nations that for cultural, religious, political, or other significant differences could be recognized. The Convention is meant to allow countries to acknowledge these new entities, without international raised eyebrows. 28 countries or states have recognised Kosovo's independence so far, a three more say they are in the planning stages of recognizing them, how many have recognized Molossia's?
Regarding switching leads: you can't just copy and paste. If you'll notice, you had it that clicking on the edit button for 3 would edit 4, and vice-versa.
Also, I can't believe that you even reverted the "interview" tag I added. It was giving you more prominence on the front page.
I've replace it with rodents, by the way. -- Zanimum - (talk) 16:55, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Writer interviews

Hi,

although these interviews are very interesting, at times they don't seem to be more than giving the author a public forum... you should try to ask some harder questions, e.g. let the author reply to critics, etc.

Also, you might want to ask for a photo under a free license, which can then also be used for a Wikipedia article (see WN:YOURPHOTO).

Anyway, well done and I'm glad we have you on board!

cheers,

--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 22:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind the next time I do an author interview. Thanks for the suggestions.--WNewsReporter - (talk) 22:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lead 4

I think I have fixed it now so that you can update for a more current story. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks.--WNewsReporter - (talk) 23:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] archive tag

Please note there is no use in adding the {{archived}} tag to articles as the pages have not been protected. this will be done by an admin/bot after an appropriate amount of time. thanks --MarkTalk to me 20:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for the info. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 20:45, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Grand Duchy of Greifenberg

Hi, the article doesn't mention where this micronation is located. Wikipedia doesn't have anything on it and their site has no maps ... do you know where it is? It would be a good piece of info to include in the article. --SVTCobra 23:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

The Greifenberg official website has German on it, so I believe it's somewhere in Central Europe. I'll have to verify that, though, before I put it in the article.--WNewsReporter - (talk) 02:15, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Molossia

Would you mind clarifiying why all the images are CC-BY-SA

Thanks,

--A101 - (talk) 20:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I was given permission from the Molossian Government to upload them, but I'm not sure if they're in the public domain or not. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 21:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Please obtain a copyright license. If you don't they may have to be deleted. A101 - (talk) 06:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Interview

You claim in your email to your interviewees that millions read Wikinews every day. Are you aware that the actual figure is about 80,000. --A101 - (talk) 20:06, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I believe I said that the interview will be avaliable to millions, not that a million people will read it in one day. If one does a Google serach of Molossia, this will come up. It will also be avaliable from Wikipedia, etc. That's why I put "thousands are reading this right now" in one of the last questions. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 20:09, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Quote from email:

...
User talk:WNewsReporter
I would like to conduct a follow-up interview with you. It would be an excellent opportunity to spread the word even further about Molossia, as a higher number of questions will be asked and I'll see to it that it gets featured on the Wikinews front page, which millions see every day. If you are interested, please reply with a "yes" or "no" within 24 hours.

--A101 - (talk) 20:10, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I see what you're saying. I should have clarified that better. --WNewsReporter - (talk) 20:14, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
OK, by the way, please respond to the comment above this seciton if possible. Great interview! --A101 - (talk) 20:15, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Follow-up interviews

Follow-up interviews are fine, but in my opinion, it would best to avoid too much duplication of the first interview. Additionally, I would suggest asking questions that could not have asked at the first interview. For example, in the follow-up with Kevin Baugh, you could have asked about the visit by Grand Duke Paul. And without trying to offend the subject of the interview, ask some questions that are a little more direct. Cheers, --SVTCobra 22:45, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll take that into consideration for future interviews.--WNewsReporter - (talk) 00:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Have you got a copyright license for the mollosia images yet? Anonymous101 (talk) 19:18, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Due to the concern which I mentioned above and in several emails a few months ago, I have temporarily removed the image of the president of Mollosia from the article. Anonymous101 (talk) 19:29, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Note

Image:VIkesland Prince.png is missing a source and/or license information. Images without a source or license information may be deleted immediately. Please add a source as soon as possible to prevent deletion. Anonymous101 (talk) 19:36, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

...and a fair use rationale. Adambro (talk) 19:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I just gave the image a new license. I'll add a rationale as well. Thanks for the heads up. --WNewsReporter (talk) 19:40, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Due to a fact tht the images are not under a free license, they have been nominated for deletion on commons. They have not yet been deleted, however, so if appropriate you might want to move some of the images here and use them under fair use Anonymous101 (talk) 19:56, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the warning. I'll do that today.--WNewsReporter (talk) 19:58, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

Please provide a source for all the images you have uploaded so it can be confirmed they have been released for use in news and editorials. Anonymous101 (talk) 20:19, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Please link to the exact page on mollosia.org if possible. By the way, great interview. Anonymous101 (talk) 20:24, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I just placed an exact link to the page on molossia.org. --WNewsReporter (talk) 20:27, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Anonymous101 (talk) 20:28, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
You must also write a fair-use rationale. You can use {{non-free use rationale}} to guide you. But better yet, why don't you get Kevin Baugh to release them under a free license (see WN:YOURPHOTO). Also, why is the aspect ratio screwed up in the images?--SVTCobra 21:21, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rationale needed

Seriously, you need to address the issue of adding a rationale for why these images are fair-use. They could be speedy deleted. Also, why is the aspect ratio messed up? --SVTCobra 23:31, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response. I was just finishing up puttting sources on all of the images' information pages. I'll add the rationales now. --WNewsReporter (talk) 23:35, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
The rationales have been added. Everything should be fine now. --WNewsReporter (talk) 00:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
You added a summary, not a rationale. I will have to tag these for speedy. --SVTCobra 00:23, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] unparalleled role in the development of small nations

I noticed you added back "unparalled" in the sentence about Molossia's role in the development of small nations. Can you substantiate that claim? If not, it ought to be removed. --SVTCobra 00:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I can. On Page 63 of the Lonely Planet book Micro Nations by John Ryan, he states that Molossia has played an unparalleled role in the development of small nations. --WNewsReporter (talk) 00:24, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Please add that to sources. Is that info online by any chance. --SVTCobra 00:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe it is, no. I'll add Micro Nations as a source. --WNewsReporter (talk) 00:28, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
