[edit] Norm Coleman article
I don't understand why it's copyvio, the content was released under a CC license: "Except where otherwise noted, content on this site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License." Could you elaborate? Thanks, Calebrw (talk) 18:30, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- I was not aware that the article on the site was released under a free license. Sorry. Feel free to restore the article. (→Zachary) 21:39, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Date linking
Hi. I'm not sure I'm the right area, but can I ask you about the edits that are happening at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Science/News/Wikinews? Following the date-delinking debate during 2009, the community has overwhelmingly rejected the linking of dates (and date fragments). Accordingly, a bot is moving through WP article space and removing date links. Unfortunately, the page I mentioned above keeps getting date links reinstated. Would you know who I can talk to to have this behaviour reversed? Thanks. (My account on WP is HWV258.) 202.124.73.184 (talk) 05:45, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- w:user:Misza13 is responsible for the bot in question. Zach's bot does stuff on wikinews. Bawolff ☺☻ 05:52, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Feed body
Hi Zachary,
Are you the Zach who creates the feeds? Great work.
I'm in the process of embedding these feeds in Appropedia, and noticed that the body of each item is the same as the title. It's also been noted at Wikinews_talk:Syndication #Improving "Latest News" Feed. Is there any prospect of changing this? --Chriswaterguy (talk) 12:28, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Chris, thanks. The feed I run is hosted on the Wikimedia Toolserver. They have access to replicated versions of the Wiki database. Unfortunately, they do not include the actual page text in the replicated database, so all I have to work with there is the page title itself, which is why the feed repeats the title as the body.
- However, there is another RSS feed, available at http://feeds.feedburner.com/WikinewsLatestNews and the feed has pictures as well as the first sentence or two of the article. You may wish to use that one instead.
- Thanks again, (→Zachary) 05:01, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks - unfortunately I'm looking for filtered feeds, e.g. on Climate change, environment, water, and it looks like all the filtered feeds have the same problem. I'll still embed the feeds on the relevant portals on Appropedia, but it'll have to be just the titles.

- If anything changes, let me know if you're able. --Chriswaterguy (talk) 05:14, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
[edit] bots logging in
Just a heads up, due to bugzilla:23076, none of your bots are logging in. Cheers. Bawolff ☺☻ 23:58, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Main Page bunched up
I think I fixed the issue in firefox so the main page leads are not spread out when js disaled. I also fixed the script that magically fixes the length of the latest news list to work on opera and chrome (still broken on ie6 and konq, but hey it degrades very gracefully). [edit] Crude oil prices (ZacheryBot)
The crude oil prices bot is screen scraping badly atm. I've protected the template until the bot can be fixed. Cheers. Bawolff ☺☻ 17:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Fixed, thanks. (→Zachary) 22:40, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- It seems to be broken again Template:Crude Oil Prices; is the bot simply importing raw html code? 'Cause that'd infringe Bloomberg's copyright... Julián (reply) 22:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Just fyi, I've had to do a block on it. Poor little bot :(. Hope it can be fixed up easily. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 22:43, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
