Are you the subject of a current article on Wikinews?
You can help us out with your photographs!

Email the photo to photosubmission@wikimedia.org

In that email, you must explicitly state:

  1. That you own the copyright on the photo
  2. What copyright license you want to release it under. Whatever license you choose must allow the photo to be freely copied and modified by anyone (including third parties not affiliated with Wikinews), for any purpose. We recommend using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license.
  3. Please mention that it is for Wikinews, if possible include a link to the article in question.
  4. If you ever want to come back with more photos just visit Wikinews and type WN:YOURPHOTO into the search box on the left. Wikipedia has a similar shortcut, WP:YOURPHOTO. Please feel free to share these links when showing off your photo in an article.

Bear in mind that we do not guarantee we will use your photo. By submitting a photo to us under one of these licenses, you are allowing anyone to copy and modify this photo for any purpose. This includes using it commercially, but you still retain personality rights that may limit commercial exploitation of your likeness. If you have an associated entry on Wikipedia the image may additionally be used there.

Photos submitted by subjects for Wikinews articles

If Wikinews interviews you in person, our reporter may have a camera to take some snaps. However, not all interviews are conducted in the flesh, we sometimes use online chat and phone conversations to interview subjects or get their reaction when mentioned in the news. Take a look at some of the images, and associated articles, where subjects helped arrange images.
