Copy and paste of press release. I believe such articles should be speedies - thoughts? Dan100 (Talk) 12:07, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- Comment - don't speedy them... There is a slight chance somebody may edit the article and create a proper story using that press release as a source. --Dejan Čabrilo 12:10, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

- To be honest, I reckon they are speedy candidates (guidelines linked in the intro above) - see no. 6 - no advertising or spam. Plus it's probably also a copyvio. Dan100 (Talk) 12:17, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- I spent some time thinking about it (around 5 minutes this time) and yes, they should probably be speedied, as that content can hardly be used. A new article will be in order anyway, due to copyright issues, etc. so a press release is of no use to us. So, speedy :) --Dejan Čabrilo 17:39, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Nick, you obviously don't understand the copyvio procedure. The original article will be deleted, regardless, to remove the copyvio from the page history. If someone re-writes it at the temp page - great - that will be moved into the page after the deletion. (This applies to all NGerda's "votes" below too.) Dan100 (Talk) 21:17, 24 July 2005 (UTC)
In copyvio - the vote isn't Keep or Delete - it's show whether or not the content is a copyvio. If so, it gets the boot. We cannot keep copyvios on Wikimedia servers. -- Davodd | Talk 04:36, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

- Objection; Nonsensical Process; The story has already been deleted ! If not? Where is it???? Is this vote for the deletion of "Armed police shoot man dead on London Underground" to which the story in question has been redirected too?? Just shows some people vote without reading what they are voting on. Paulrevere2005 16:46, 24 July 2005 (UTC)
- The story is at [1] as you can find by going to the page and clicking history.--Cspurrier 16:52, 24 July 2005 (UTC)
- Notice; you have been voting for the deletion of a different article. Just click on this story title above; "London eyewitnesses: Police tackled Asian, held a gun to his head and " unloaded five shots into him" above and you'll see what I mean. If this vote passes then the story Armed police shoot man dead on London Underground must be deleted. Paulrevere2005 16:46, 24 July 2005 (UTC)
- As should be fairly obvious we are voting on the deletion of the story titled "London eyewitnesses: Police tackled Asian, held a gun to his head and " unloaded five shots into him" " Once the vote is complete, the story with this title will be deleted, in cases like this where the story has been redirected we are voting upon both the story and the delteion of the redirect not the story it is redirected to. --Cspurrier 16:52, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

London bombing investigators reportedly find timing device [edit]
Ten days old and the information contained in it is demonstrably false. While the article does not claim directly that timer fragments were found, to even report the suspicion by other news services implies, whether intended or not, that we condone their claims. Wikinews does not speculate, nor does it mislead. Dan100 (Talk) 11:56, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- This article was discussed before, and kept. Passed 3-1 decision Removal of tag. (24.85.70.132 appears to have been Amgine's IP address at the time.) Uncle G 12:05, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- The reason that the article is ten days old, by the way, is because Dan100 has been repeatedly tagging it. It would have been published the day after its dateline had this not been the case. In using the fact that the article is ten days old, Dan100 is giving the delay to publication caused by his own actions as part of the reason for this article's deletion. Incidentally: The notion that simply reporting what other news services have reported implies condoning their claims is false. Properly attributing claims to the named entities that make them does not imply anything. Uncle G 12:32, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- Yup, it was kept first-time-round. Now we know that the sources used to write this article were completely wrong, I'm re-listing it. Uncle G has also twice removed the "misleading" dispute tag saying "the dispute is over", even though I have made it abundantly clear that it is not. Dan100 (Talk) 13:56, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- I actually said in my edit history comment that the "dispute appears to be over". I based this upon neither you nor anyone else having made any edits at all to the discussion of the dispute on the talk page between 2005-07-13 and that time, including no replies to the points raised by 70.71.17.223, which was not "making things abundantly clear". Moreover, the point about the fact that we now know the sources to be wrong is exceedingly ironic. We also now know that the sources were completely wrong that told us on 2005-07-07 that the bombs detonated 5 minutes apart and that there were 33 people killed, too. By the "but we now know" logic that you are propounding here, we should be having a deletion discussion of Coordinated terrorist attack hits London on that basis. This article, datelined 2005-07-08, wasn't about what we know now. What is in the article is a report of what the sources said on that date. Uncle G 14:39, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- Question: What is the status of this article now? I personally would vote to delete. --Chiacomo (talk) 14:32, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- Comment - I removed the developing story template from this story - it has had no substantive changes to it in about 2 weeks; it is not "developing" except as a dispute war. There is no need to have such a dispute war on the front page - particularly since even if it *is* published, it will be available only in archives or subject portals anyway. -- Davodd | Talk 00:56, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
Delete. Though I vote for delete, I do not wish for the conclusion of this RfD (delete/keep) to *EVER* *EVER* be used as a precedent. This RfD is a fiasco and needs to be brought to conclusion.
