[edit] August 22

[edit] Ore Month Anniversary of Jean Charles' Murder

Get over it. Dan100 (Talk) 11:09, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

i agree it isn't a real news story, but i think your remark / reason for deletion isn't very wise either Dan100. 130.89.11.31 11:28, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

I think it could be given time to develop - are there commemorations? 194.74.169.134 12:15, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Del. Sorry about the death and all, but honoring "anniversaries" of a single-person's death isn't really that honorable. --Mrmiscellanious 15:16, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
Delete Reasons above -- very sad, but marking the date of a death isn't news. I'm certain the ongoing investigation will make the news on its own anyway. --Chiacomo (talk) 02:31, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

The article itself isn't bad, it just needs fleshing out. The title, however, was terrible. I changed it. "Murder" is clearly not the right term, most people don't know the victim by name, and the fact that it's the one month anniversary is irrelevant. "Investigation into shooting of Brazilian in London subway" is the new title. StuRat 03:55, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] PETA Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Advert, abandoned, spam? --Mrmiscellanious 04:09, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Borderline speedy, definitely delete. Dan100 (Talk) 17:15, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
Delete PETA pr spam. It just totally unformatted and screams press release. Delete the fucker and fuck PETA. (I'm a big fan of PETA, they're annoying to me and now hypocritical) --TUFKAAP 19:38, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

I agree, delete it, there is no news value there. StuRat 03:58, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Croatian soccer player Igor Novakovic returns from Russia

Abandoned, no cleanup. --Mrmiscellanious 04:09, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

This author usually does a good job on reporting news from the former Yugoslavia, but was unable to find a source this time. I suppose, under these circumstances, I must reluctantly vote for deletion. StuRat 04:03, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] August 19

[edit] Iran targets blogs

Abandoned. -- Davodd | Talk 23:30, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Article seems useful if we can just get better sources and a rewrite so it isn't such a blatant copy of the first source. As for getting a statement from the mullahs to balance the story, good luck. StuRat 04:19, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] US stocks higher by midday

Vague, abandoned, obsolete. -- Davodd | Talk 23:26, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Not really news to me, unless we add a stock report section. How about if we just "unpublish" it ? StuRat 04:24, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] August 12

[edit] Lindsay Lohan To Come Clean

Not newsworthy, not up to our standards, source is a "gossip" column or something like that. --TUFKAAP 14:39, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Marilyn Monroe's psychiatrist's tapes alledge affairs with Bobby Kennedy and Joan Crawford

Has been abandoned, disputed on validity as a news item, etc. --Mrmiscellanious 14:37, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Speedy delete Too old to be salvaged. Not enough soruces, unwikified. Messy. And it's very tablodish... I don't we want Wikinews to become the National Enqurier. --TUFKAAP 14:35, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] August 10

[edit] Lead up to Iraq war: as threats decreased, bombings increased

Article seems to have been partially abandoned. Some content was salvaged into U.S. war protest mom met Bush in 2004. Current content has little to do with the title, etc... --Chiacomo (talk) 03:34, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Delete - Also endorses highly biased website as a main source. Very biased as it is - no real information in article. Needs to go. --Mrmiscellanious 14:24, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete. United States democrats still have no coherent plan, so it centers on critical attacks of Bush administration policies. What is the Democratic policy? -Edbrown05 14:35, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Speedy Delete' I'm really confused... this just turned into article on some house race and then something on Impeachment and nothing on what the title says? What are these biased sites? --TUFKAAP 15:51, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
  • The biased site is the "External Link" to the website of AfterDowningStreet.org, which is unacceptable on Wikinews as it can imply that we have endorsed this site, thereby breaking the NPOV policy. --Mrmiscellanious 14:41, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Keepthis article doesn't meet the criteria for deletion set out in the deletion guidelines. It was getting better. Paulrevere2005 11:11, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete, left-wing bias. Andrew pmk 16:00, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

I cannot read the source, else I would try to work on this article. Still does not address "when"... --Chiacomo (talk) 03:38, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rescue of Russian sub a life and death struggle against time

Article is hopelessly jumbled and has been superceded by Russian submarine rescued by Royal Navy. Sorry to let this one get away, but it should be deleted. --Chiacomo (talk) 19:41, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

Delete. I know Chiacomo. The story just didn't work out right. -Edbrown05 02:31, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

Nonsense- it is in fact, well organized; and I don't think you're acting in good faith. You don't delete any other older articles, and the sparse and inaccurate Rescue story barely touches the issues. - MH

[edit] English language Wikipedia hits 700,000 articles

No longer news because its so old. I don't think anybody's working on it. Wikipedia now has 710,787 articles. Bawolff 03:39, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Delete. I don't consider it newsworthy until it hits a million, anyway. StuRat

[edit] Local:North America:United States along with all other local:

No one uses this. Everybody uses United States should be deleted and redirect to United States. Nothing links to it. Bawolff 03:45, 1 September 2005 (UTC)

  • Delete. This was an attempt to keep local news off the main page. Alternatively, we could add a "Global" category for things which are of international interest, and only display those on the main page. I added this suggestion to the main page discussion page and asked for votes. StuRat 05:20, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Delete. All of the Local: pages other than this one were deleted in July -- see the July Deleted Archive. This was apparently only a test. --Chiacomo (talk) 04:34, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
