Soy Rebelde v. Blood Red Sandman & Microchip08 [edit]
(Title for case - use names of defendants)
Involved parties [edit]
- Confirmation that all parties are aware of the request
- Confirmation that other steps in dispute resolution have been tried
(If not, then explain why that would be fruitless)
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Dispute_resolution My dispute was closed by User:ShakataGaNai. I received a lengthy message on my userpage by this admin, who contested my petition was "over the top." This same admin left a two sentence message for User:Blood Red Sandman. No reprimand.
- I left a warning for BRS and Micro. I did respond to then close the Dispute Resolution page as I felt it was premature. Steps 1 through 4 (Avoidance, Talk Page, Ask for help, Tea) were summarily skipped. With in 2 hours of the dispute on WN:WC/P, the post to Dispute Res was already up. "Lengthy" post was left for Soy because I felt she (gender unknown until this ArbCom request) could use some help & guidance. Was more than happy to provide additional help, that point seemed to get missed. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 07:17, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Statement by party 1 (User:Soy Rebelde) [edit]
- Original: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Water_cooler/proposals#Integrate_WN_into_WP_Infobox
- What started out as generally antagonistic response by Admin:Blood Red Sandman to a proposal I added evolved into a very clear and hostile personal and sexist attack.
- Both Blood Red Sandman & Microchip08 verbally attacked me, using expletives, amongst which was the word "cunt."
- I responded to the first expletive without a reciprocal, even though I could have used language in proportion to the first comment. My comment however, was later used to justify very outrageous actions.
- I addressed this here: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Dispute_resolution My dispute was closed by User:ShakataGaNai. I received a lengthy message on my userpage by this admin, who contested my petition was "over the top." This same admin left a two sentence message for User:Blood Red Sandman.
- I request the User:Microchip08 who also used the same expletive be blocked for a few days.
- I request the User:Blood Red Sandman be stripped of his title on WikiNews and also be blocked for a few days. Anyone in a position of authority who acts so recklessly should be terminated. Otherwise, other users will follow his example, which completely defeats the purpose and integrity of the position. As a matter of a fact, other users have continued to chime in mockingly and my contribution/proposal has become the stage for a hazing.
- As a female user being on the receiving end of what can easily be argued to be the most offensive sexist expletive in the English language while the perpetrator receives no reprimand is unacceptable. As for WikiNews being "lax" on the rules, I can appreciate an atmosphere of that quality, however don't subscribe to the idea that this is in any way would be acceptable to Wikimedia Foundation and am certain if this reached a higher level the response would be different.--Soy Rebelde (talk) 06:34, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Statement by party 2 (Blood Red Sandman) [edit]
Piss off. If you honestly believe that use of an example to demonstrate is wrong - and that doing so somehow is an insult - then you have no place on a news website. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 12:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

- After some consideration, I would like to point out that some low-level personal jabs and a lack of response to the swearing itself have been observed here from staff member Mike Godwin. He argued here in much the style of everyone else. Also, we have allowed neo-Nazis to defend themselves on an opinions page, spouting endless racist drivel - yes, they should by all means be responded to and their arguments shot down, but to disallow them to say it would be quite wrong. Let us not forget that Soy started with the personal attacks and incivility. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 13:03, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Arbitrators' opinions on accepting request [edit]
- Abstain as involved. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 12:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Move to speedy close. This is, goddamn it, not "WikiNews". We've all tried to get the project higher visibility on Wikipedia - it usually fails to get far. This isn't Wikipedia, you can't wear people down with verbiage. --Brian McNeil / talk 14:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Decline. I don't feel that other methods of dispute resolution have been tried sufficiently. The dispute didn't even begin a day ago; this page is supposed to be used for long-standing conflicts that couldn't be resolved by any other means. I think both sides should try to cool off a bit here. Tempodivalse [talk] 15:35, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Decline No real merit in this case, and I don't feel the other DR steps have been followed first. However I would remind Blood Red Sandman to be careful at making "piss off' statements on this page. We do need to be civilish after all :) Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 19:24, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Decline Some minor civility issues, but it is no where near the level of an arbcom case. The other methods of dispute resolution should be tried first (Though it seems that the best thing to do would be to allow this all to just be forgotten about). --Cspurrier (talk) 03:40, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Decline - I am not seeing enough other attempts at prior methods of resolving this issue. Does not quite rise to the level of a case, at this point in time. Cirt (talk) 16:42, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
