Stephen Hawking, British theoretical physicist, has died today from [CAUSEOFDEATH]. He was [AGE].

Born Stephen William Hawking on January 8, 1942, he was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

Hawking was for many years severely disabled by Lou Gehrig's disease which confined him to a wheelchair.
