Grandma Pepper's comment deleted[edit]

While potentially understandable, I'm wondering under what justification it was deleted? - Amgine 06:58, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Isn't most of her comment back now?(The first half is there, but not the second half.)
Amgine, you were just pointing out how ridiculously long the water cooler was a day ago. Davodd went through and archived a number of messages, and organized the page to be quite smaller in the process.
If you would truly like to continue the discussion with "Grandma Pepper" about how to establish a groundswell to redirect all of the funds for the American Presidential inauguration ceremony to the tsunami relief efforts, and to ask everyone to lay down their arms, I'm a bit surprised, but I'm willing to discuss it.
I'm all for reporting on the first half of such an effort should a notable organization have much success with advancing the idea, heck, I'm the one who made the most noise to have a donation banner on Wikipedia, and also asked for it here on Wikinews. After all, there is no enemy on the other side of the disaster (it's humankind vs Mother Nature), so we aren't sacrificing a NPOV by pointing out where assistance is being asked for.
But we cross a serious line in the sand if we start advocating for Grandma Pepper's second idea, which was to "ask everyone to lay down their arms and help out their Muslim brothers in the affected countries". That second request would make it impossible for us to be recognized as a neutral reporting source in the future, so it seems rather pointless to discuss it.
Anyways, that's my two cents on Grandma Pepper's ideas.
By the way, it appears that you have a bit of history with Davodd. I hope you two are able to work out your issues with each other, as just about everyone else has got along with each other quite well here on Wikinews (at least so far).DV 16:36, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Hi All - by checking the page history -- that section was deleted by User:Simmo|Contributions as detailed - HERE The user did so without comment as to why the discussion should be censored. -- Davodd | Talk 17:46, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Davodd, thanks for the clarification that you weren't the one who deleted the comment.
Sorry I didn't follow the history of this comment more closely.
The first part of the comment in question is back on the water cooler, right? I see that the second follow up comment is what was lost.
However, for the future sanity of the water cooler, I would propose that it's not censorship if comments are archived after they appear to be dead or abandoned. Hopefully Amgine can clarify if he feels there should be a different policy.

In case anyone doubts my support of newbies around here...
It appears that "Grandma Pepper" has company in the "jet set".
Mr. Cuban is hardly a charitable organization, but it's the best I could do on short notice. :)

Moved FAQ[edit]

I moved the FAQ section to Wikinews:FAQ to cut down on the length of this page.-- Davodd | Talk 21:49, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)
