No, it isn't. You've got the whole of Tasmania further south.
Depends whether our talking about geography or politics. Geography - yes, Gippsland is the southernmost tip of the continent of Australia.
But as the article is about politics, I suggest using the political definition of Australia, which includes Tasmania. And the by the way, the Greens party in Australia started in Tasmania.
And Macquarie Island is further south than we are.
Fair point. I did initially put in "southernmost tip of the Australian continent" in the initial draft. It obviously isn't the southernmost point of Australia the country, and so some clarity as to whether it was referring to Australia the continent or Australia the country would have been good. I really just included the "southernmost tip" point as an interesting fact about South Gippsland.
