Well, I can definately see the community radio sector receiving money from the federal government. However, with the community television sector it's a matter if the public wants to fund another commercial-style outlet such as SBS or ABC. It's my opinion that the community television sector has survived since 1994 by commercial advertising so far, so why do they need federal funding? Maybe for transitioning to digital spectrum, but as far as continual government (public tax dollars), fat chance! You haven't yet made your focus primarily in support of the public, you've got high ambitions to create a service that goes beyond public interest, and you have yet promoted localism. In today's economic crises, it is especially not the importance of the federal government to financially support such a low level of media interest. My suggestion would be to current and prospective community television operators, look for alternatives to going digital and continually build what could be a great industry - if not owned by commercial interests. IF ANYONE DELETES OR CHANGES THIS STATEMENT ONLY SHOWS THAT THE COMMUNITY TELEVISION SECTOR REFUTES OPINION! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 121.208.193.151 (talkcontribs)
