A question that deserves to be answered.

The Warsaw Pact disbanded at the end of the Cold War, why didn't the NATO follow suit? Why are they still active and engaged in the theater of war almost twenty years later? Is this not an anachronism? It seems this curious fact lends itself to an asymmetric balance of power that is ultimately destructive to world peace
