On Sunday, in western India a bridge collapsed. At least two people were reported to have been killed, and six others were reported injured.
According to witnesses, a large number of people were attempting to cross the bridge when the structure gave out.
India's National Disaster Response Force was brought to the fore of the situation. The leader of the Nationalist Congress Party expressed concern that some people had been "swept away" following the collapse. An eyewitness stated that dozens had been swept away.
Rescue operations were underway.
