Description

Satellite image of Ice deposit at the south pole of Mars, taken by the ESA's Mars Express spacecraft. shows longitudinal section of deposit.

Upper half is a 'radargram' from Mars Express' Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionospheric Sounding (MARSIS).

Lower half is topographic map of the area based on NASA's Mars Global Surveyor data gathered by the MOLA laser altimeter. White line is track of Mars Express.
