Description The USS Port Royal (CG 73) steams in the Persian Gulf as it conducts surface and air defense operations for the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) battle group on Nov. 7, 1997. The Ticonderoga class cruiser is equipped with AEGIS combat systems, and Tomahawk anti-ship and land attack missiles. The USS Nimitz (CVN 68) battle group is operating in the Persian Gulf in support of the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.
