why is Berlin missing from this image?

This image is a standard one, based on the meteo services. I believe Berlin is missing because the airport is listed as something else, but I'm not certain. - Amgine 08:15, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Actually, the selection of cities is entirely under our control. The map is built upon generic satellite topography over which we can overlay whatever we like.
Concerning the omission of Berlin, I asked the contributors on the German Wikinews to pick out which city they wanted to use for Germany, as I felt it would be better to use the limited space in that region of the map to show a German city rather than Paris, seeing how we have a German Wikinews but not a French one.
Since no one on German Wikinews has made a preference known on their local weather page, I'll change the map to display Berlin, as long as their airport has a reliable reporting station in or near the city.

Why is New Zealand not getting weather? We exist as well. Preferably Wellington's weather as it is in the centre and Auckland as it is the largest city in New Zealand.

Again, the choice of cities was fairly arbitrary. No one was intentionally excluded. I'm happy to add cities where there is room on the map.
I just tried out the above requested cities. Berlin is returning 7c, Auckland, NZ is returning 20c and Wellington, NZ is returning 17c (as of 05:00 UTC), so their reporting stations all appear to be working. I will add Berlin, and one or both of the NZ cities (depending on whether or not I can fit both of them onto the map) to the next edition of the map.
In the longer term, I'm thinking of providing regional maps so we can call out more of our reader's favorite cities.
