On Monday, April 28, the Liberal Party of Canada has won the 2025 Canadian federal election, according to statements from two major parties. Prime Minister Mark Carney has been elected to a full term as Prime Minister, winning a minority government. He succeeded Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister in March and called an early election. The Liberals won 169 seats, 3 short of a majority in the House of Commons, more than the opposition Conservatives who won 144 seats.

In his victory speech, Carney said "As I have been warning for months, America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country. But these are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us... That will never ever happen." Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada Pierre Poilievre lost his own seat to Liberal candidate Bruce Fanjoy. Leader of the New Democratic Party Jagmeet Singh also lost his seat.

In the election, 17% of seats changed parties. Voter turnout was 67%, the highest in ten years. Judicial recounts were in progress to fully confirm the results.
