No survivors onboard after small plane crashes near Interstate 95 in South Florida

On Friday, a small plane crashed in South Florida near Interstate 95 in Boca Raton, Florida, United States. All three people onboard the plane were killed. A person in a nearby car was also injured after the plane pushed the car into a nearby railroad track, which resulted in a closure of the track, according to fire officials. According to sources, rudder malfunctions were reported by the pilot prior to the crash.
The plane was identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Cessna 310. It had departed from Boca Raton Airport at 2:20 PM UTC and was en route to Tallahassee, Florida.
Josh Orsino witnessed the explosion while stopped at a red light. He recalled: “We’re just sitting there, and I see the palm trees start catching on fire. I thought it was an oil rig or a car crash type thing.”
Scott Singer, mayor of Boca Raton, said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to confirm that a plane crash occurred earlier today within our community. At this time, details are still emerging, and we are working closely with emergency responders and authorities. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic event. We ask for patience and respect for the families involved as investigations continue.”
