On March 13, 2026, The Performance Space in New York City held its annual Gala. The event featured an opening cocktail party at 6PM, a dinner at 8PM which featured performances and honorees, and an afterparty at 10PM. The year’s honorees were fashion designer Michèle Lamy, artist Paul McCarthy, and writer Samuel R. Delany. The event was nearly sold out and the room was packed with hundreds of people.

The opening reception where people mingled was held in an outdoor heated area behind the venue. Servers who wore kinky outfits came out holding sculptures of prepared foods, which include baos, and variations on sushi.

The main dinner was held upstairs on the fifth floor, where people were seated at their assigned tables. The foods served included a beef dish, pasta with meat, a mushroom option, and a bed of rice. While dinner was served, performances would occur, with breaks in between them. Some of these performances included burlesque elements. The performers listed on the program were Moses Sumney, Yseult, Alok, Star Amerasu, Arewà Basit, Alex Takarsky, Jonah Almost, and Ruby McCollister.

Yseult performed several songs at the start of the ceremony. About an hour into the ceremony, a performer read from Delany's book Times Square Red, Times Square Blue, which led into an introduction of Delany, who was the first to be honored and gave a short speech. About 15 minutes later, McCarthy was honored and also gave a short speech. Lastly, Lamy was honored; she was not in attendance but had recorded a video message. This was followed by a performance of several songs by Sumney, who was backed only by a guitarist.

The afterparty was down the hall from the main reception area, and was in a barely lit dark room with dance music and easily obtained drinks. Outside the venue, people were lining up to attend the afterparty.
