Shooting at Benihana restaurant in Maple Grove, Minnesota leaves one injured

Around 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (2230 UTC) on Friday, a shooting happened inside a Benihana restaurant in Maple Grove, Minnesota. One person was injured, according to police.

As of late Friday, no arrests had been made, but an investigation was ongoing.

Both the victim and shooter left the vicinity before police arrived. Later on, Friday, the victim reportedly sought treatment at a local hospital. The restaurant was evacuated and closed following the shooting.

Early reports indicated the two men involved in the altercation knew one another. The victim was reportedly a 33-year-old man. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle. Reports indicate the victim's injuries were not life threatening.

The motive remained unknown, but authorities say the victim and suspect had a relationship. As of November 18, 2025, no one has been arrested.
