This flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 displays as a black flag on my computer. So does 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the one for Scotland. They look exactly the same as well. --SVTCobra 23:05, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These set of emojis were added in 2017, and are not supported in older browsers. However, check the URL, you can see the English flag, I assume.

And this File:Flag screen shot.png is what it looks like to me. I am running the latest version of Firefox. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:27, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I know. Per Emojipedia, it is “New in 2017. May not show on older devices.” It is yet to receive support from most of the desktop browsers. Mozilla Firefox and Safari for iOS can display it. I bet you can see the English flag in URL address bar in chrome . Opera, Firefox and Chrome on Ubuntu 16.04 and Chrome OS are still showing black flag. Address bar in all three desktop browsers can not render the black flag. Well, one will never actually come to this page as they will be redirected.

For fun, I switched to Chrome for Windows. As you can see here it's even worse. Just square boxes. --SVTCobra 23:46, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
”Windows” is no less than a nightmare. But as I mentioned earlier, “popular” mobile browsers can render it. And it is primarily aimed to help mobile users.

The real problem[edit]

Wikinewsies on computers cannot find these pages in order to edit them. The only way I can even get to them is when I see them in Recent changes. To help this, I think we can make a category for them. "Emoji redirects"? Is that good? --SVTCobra 01:14, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay by me. --Pi zero (talk) 01:16, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, another way to get to this page would be to use Special:WhatLinksHere from the target category. --Pi zero (talk) 01:17, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but that necessitates knowing that it even exists in the first place. Anyway, I started the category. I am only aware of the England and Scotland ones. Do more exist? --SVTCobra 01:30, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wales. (Not sure about NIR) Are there any very-recently-declared countries so tat I can check?
