NPOV issues[edit]

Thanks for writing this article. I always like to see articles about Fiji :). There are at present several major NPOV issues in it. Please remember that ever story will have multiple sides. This article presents only the Australian government/News Corp position. Please see the PINA article I added for another perspective.

It is not necessary to state that the government is in place because of a coup unless it is directly relevant to the story. It would be silly to say President Obama, who was elected in a democratic election in 2008, did X unless you are talking specifically about something related the elections. Making coups the only form of taking office that requires it to be repeatedly announced is not NPOV.

It would also help if your primary sources were not owned by one of the parties involved. The Australian and Fiji Times are News Corp papers and ABC is government owned (by the same government as Smith is a part).

“Dictator” is almost never a npov term unless used as part of a direct quote. It is very loaded word whose applicability is very debatable.

Once again thanks for your work. I am going to be out for the next few hours, but if no one has fixed these issues, I will, as soon as I get back. --Cspurrier (talk) 16:22, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You will be hard pressed find the Fijian side of the story, as the article is kinda about how the government is stopping the media from reporting. Australian and New Zealander media sources are the only free press operations functioning in the nation.H.R.H Sovereign King Bradley The Great, Autocrat of All Australia talk 06:35, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree with BKCW8 here, but his point about the small number of sources in Fiji (and their biased nature) shouldn't be ignored. Journalistic activity in Fiji has been severely curtailed. Gopher65talk 22:36, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
